  • House Tour

We finally finished painting our apartment last week (and by "we" I mean our fabulous painter/handyman), so I thought I would share some before pictures!

We have two entrances to our apartment.  This is the main entrance on the second floor that leads from an entry hallway into our kitchen/dining room.

We have three faux fireplaces in the dining room, living room, and master bedroom... I wish at least the one in the living room worked!

The kitchen windows open onto this deck that's also accessible via stairs from the backyard.

We probably won't be using it much in the winter, but I'm not sure what we should do with it in the summer.  Perhaps a little table and two chairs to eat breakfast? (That's my mom.)

We let the cats explore a little bit, but they're indoor cats so we don't let them go outside.

This is Max, our next door neighbor's cat.  He is so friendly and sweet and practically lives in our backyard because we have a big tree with a squirrel family that lives in it.  Unfortunately Smokey and Sparky do not like him and hiss and attack the window every time he shows his face in our kitchen window.

View of the living room from the kitchen.  It's a very long living room with pocket doors, original floors, and lots of crown molding.

Bathroom door on left, closet on right.  I do wish there were more closet space, but I can live with what we have.

Connecting bathroom to master bedroom, aka Mr. Bee's bathroom

    Nursery

This room is probably bigger than our master bedroom, but it kinda has a funny shape.  The nursery is almost done, and I will share pics soon!

Who knew life was so wonderful with your own washer and dryer?  That first open door on the left leads to a very very scary basement.  A blessing and a curse because we have so much storage space, but that  just allows us to accumulate more crap.

    My bathroom

The hall leading into my office is pretty long, which is good because I'll have a little more privacy.

My office that looks out into the backyard.

The backyard.  Excuse the crappy pic -- I just took it really quickly right now with my iphone.  It's comparable in size to our previous backyard, but probably a bit larger because there is more usable space.  I'm going to have to bring my dad in the spring and put him to work revamping the space.

We're off to Ikea now to buy some random things.  We still have a lot of organizing and furniture shopping to do, but it's getting there!  We have twice the space in Brooklyn that we had in Manhattan, and with a baby on the way, it was definitely worth moving.  Now I just have to convince all my friends to move here!

  • What is the best Korean market in Flushing that has a parking lot? Now that we live in Brooklyn, we're definitely going to get a car sometime soon. Stationwagon here we come!

  • Our 6 Year Meetaversary

Yesterday was our 6 year meetaversary and though we haven't been too big on celebrating birthdays, anniversaries, etc. in recent years, Mr. Bee surprised me with this gorgeous bouquet from Belle Fleur -- a replica of my actual wedding bouquet from our wedding florist!

    Even Sparky was interested.

We shot our maternity pictures yesterday with Punam Bean.  We're both horribly unphotogenic, so I hope at least some of them turn out well.

I'm gonna stay home and unpack and organize all weekend, but phew I've been feeling almost as exhausted as I was in the first trimester.  Hope you have a great one!

  • 35 Weeks

The baby is now about the size of a honeydew and weighs over 5 pounds according to Baby Center.

I've gained 30 pounds to date, and I have 5 more weeks to go.  I didn't gain any weight the past couple of weeks, so I'm pretty confident I'll stay under 35 total pounds gained (thank goodness!).  A lot of people have told me that I'm big and that I'm going to have a big baby.  Mr. Bee and I have been taking a birth preparation class with one other couple this past week.  The wife is as far along as I am, and she's only gained 20 pounds -- I'm ginormous compared to her!  And you know Korean people have big heads, which means I'm going to be doing a lot of pushing.

We hired a night nurse for the first month after the baby is born.  She's going to come here from 8pm - 8am, and help with everything related to the baby.  She'll do everything from changing and burping the baby, keeping the nursery clean, and putting the baby on a regular sleep schedule.  Since we don't really have any relatives nearby, and I don't know anything about babies, knowing that we'll have help is a huge comfort.

Tomorrow I have a maternity shoot, but of course with my luck rain is forecasted (it's rained on my last three outdoor parties).  Fingers crossed that it doesn't start until after our shoot!

And finally here are some pics from the little vampire themed party I threw on Halloween!

The color scheme was red and black...  You can see our newly painted living room and kitchen (I'll share pics of the rest of the apartment soon!).

The food was all red except for the mushroom ravioli, which is what Bella and Edward ate on their first date!

    Martini glasses covered with blood

Candy apples and red velvet cupcakes

Tea lights carved into red apples

Tru Blood and blood type themed beverages (it's just Izze and Vitamin Water)

A mini candy buffet featuring assorted red candies...

Apples, candles, and cranberries oh my!

I forgot to put out my Sookie Stackhouse books (which True Blood is based on), but we did play the Twilight/New Moon soundtracks and the Twilight movie in the background!

Cocktails included Blushing Bellas and Bloody Marys

Ice cube shot glasses filled with Patron.  It didn't follow the red theme, but oh well.  It was Patron.

And of course the star of the night.... Edward!

I've been pushing myself way too hard physically the past month with moving, buying furniture, work, hosting out of town guests... after tomorrow I'm going to take it easy because I'm afraid I might go into early labor!  I still have so much to do before the baby is born, he needs to cook for 5 more weeks!
